What we store, and what is public
Public on the map
- Your display name.
- A location. For a person or a group this is rounded to roughly a kilometre, so it shows the area rather than the address. For a shop or a convention it is stored exactly, because the point of those is being able to find them — the registration form says which applies as you choose.
- The contact detail you chose to add, if you added one.
- Any "want to play" note you leave on a convention, shown on that convention's pin under your gamer name — and on your own pin too, if you ticked that box. Delete it any time from manage my pins.
Kept, but never shown
- Your email address. It exists only so we can confirm you are a real person and reach you if there is a problem with your entry. It is never displayed, never given out and never used for a mailing list.
- The IP address the registration came from, to spot flooding.
Changing or removing your pin
Go to manage my pins and ask for a link. It arrives by email, because controlling the address is what proves the pins are yours. From there you can take a pin down, or remove the address and everything on it for good — we keep nothing.
Nothing on the map ever changes without a confirmation from that email address. If somebody else types your address into the registration form, the only thing that happens is you get an email asking whether you meant it. Ignore it and your pin stays exactly as it is.
One address, one pin of each kind
You can have a personal pin and a pin for a shop, group or convention on the same address — but only one of each kind, so the map does not fill up with duplicates.
